Monday, 19th September - Holbrook to Williams
Happy birthday Nicholas!
A relatively short drive today, around 140 miles, so we luxuriated in a Denny's breakfast before we hit the road.
An hour up the I40 we arrived in Winslow. We did, of course, have to stand on the corner.
The Eagles track "Take it Easy" will reveal all .....
Malted "White Cow" milkshakes completed the moment as we were serenaded by a blues singer/guitarist busking on the street.
Next stop was the "Meteor Crater", a very big hole in the ground created by an impact approximately 50000 years ago. It is a mile across, three miles in diameter and over 600 feet deep. It could, apparently, accommodate 20 football pitches and 2 million spectators!
There is a great information centre and other space related exhibits.
Tonight's (and tomorrow's) hotel is slightly more traditional as, say, compared to last night's.
Tomorrow an exciting journey awaits us ...
...... and another, very big, hole in the ground.
Make sure you don't fall in any of the holes
